At the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science in the Institute of Sociology the position of 

Chair (W3) of Methods in Empirical Social Research

is to be filled as soon as possible.

The successful applicant will represent the field in research and teaching within the Bachelor, Master and Diploma Study Programs of Sociology as well as minor Programs of Sociology for students from other disciplines. A close cooperation with the Centre for Methods and within and beyond the School of Humanities and Social Sciences is expected. Research cooperation shall cover the breadth of methods and teaching, and shall focus on quantitative methods of empirical social research. A willingness and ability to conduct classes in English is expected as are the par-ticipation in academic selfadministration and dedication to the supervision of doctoral students and postdocs.

We expect the candidate to be an internationally recognized expert in the area of quantitative methods. Experience in acquiring third party funding is presupposed. The applicant should be experienced in bidding and realisation of third-party funded research projects. High commit-ment to teaching as well as excellent didactical skills are expected. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act Governing Academic Freedom in Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (Saxon Academic Freedom in Higher Education Act – SächsHSFG).
