Director of Marketing & External Relations

The National Film and Television School (NFTS)

The NFTS is widely acknowledged as one of the best film schools.  Over the last five years the School has had more Oscar nominations than any other film school in the world and has won the BAFTA for Best Short Animation four times in a row.

The School, unique in its creative and craft proposition of excellence, is undergoing a period of significant growth and transformation.  This year it has admitted more students to a wider range of degree and non-degree courses taught in its newly created state of the art teaching facilities than at any other time in its history.

We are looking for an exceptional individual, reporting to the Director, to develop and deliver the NFTS’ external relations strategy which focuses on fostering new partnerships, relationship management of existing ones and profiling the NFTS to potential students, alumni and the film, television and games industries. Providing both strategic leadership and hands-on delivery where necessary, you will drive a step change in the School’s external relations profile. You will have the chance to make a key contribution to the School’s strategic direction and management as a member of the Management Team.

You will have a knowledge of either the film, television and games creative industries or Higher Education.  With significant understanding of marketing, you will have substantial expertise and track record in as many areas as possible of external relations ie marketing, communications, alumni relations, strategic events management and fundraising.  You should have exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills.  Your relationship building and networking skills will be first class as will your ability to influence and persuade at the senior level.  You will need to be ready to operate at both the strategic and operational level.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact either the Director, Jon Wardle ( or the HR Director, Philip Willatt (
