The University of Bristol is seeking an operational manager to lead and develop the recently combined Mechanical, Electronics and Glass workshop facilities operated by the Science Faculty.

Our well-equipped workshops provide consultancy, design, repair and production services, which support teaching and research activities across a wide range of disciplines, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Medicine, Geography and the Arts.

This is an exciting new role that will require you to shape the future development of the service, whilst providing central leadership to our varied workshop facilities.  You will develop robust and effective local operating procedures, including finance, safety and people management.

This customer-facing role includes: working with internal service users to understand developing needs as well as current and future priorities; and with potential users to actively promote the workshops to ensure that the service is made available across the University.

You will lead and co-ordinate a skilled team of workshop supervisors, technicians and apprentices (c.17 people), working across 3 workshop locations.
