Content and Research Manager, World Summit Series
Department:    THE Commercial
Status:    Commencing ASAP 
Location:    Red Lion Square, Holborn, London
Reporting to:    Content Director

Basic Scope & Primary Objectives

Reporting to the Content Director – the Content and Research Manager will support the Content team to ensure that our World Summit Series becomes the ‘must attend’ event for senior leaders across the Higher Education sector, by supporting in the process of providing high quality content delivered by world-class speakers, an innovative and market leading programme formatting and premium networking opportunities not available elsewhere.  Working with the World Summit Series team and across the wider business you will play a fundamental role in delivery our events in partnership with our host partners. 

You might be a journalist or might have produced events, conferences or seminar programmes before. You must be an innovative thinker, have the ability to research and discover the best speakers. You’ll need to have a creative approach and be able to spot opportunities that add value and enhance the experience of our stakeholders. You’ll need to be confident talking to senior leadership and passionate about the Times Higher Education and the World Summit Series. 

Key Responsibilities

Programme Development 

  • Conduct research with a variety of stakeholders, provide feedback on the programme content and to help develop the World Summit Series as a whole
  • Identify opportunities and concepts around specific topics and target groups 
  • Conduct programme market research in relation to summit type (theme, tracks and potential speakers) and ensure this is attractive to potential delegates 
  • Participation in meetings with external partners (some travel involved)

Marketing and Prospect Management 

  • Engage with key influencers of the market and generate interest in the event 
  • Develop, manage and maintain the speaker database 
  • Support in the prospect research of future host partners for the World Summit Series
  • Clarify the event value proposition for interested parties 
  • Research and acquire the right calibre of speakers 

Experience and Skills Required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including spelling, grammar and proofreading, with the ability to tailor style and approach to suit a variety of global audiences
  • Confident and talented self-starter who is able to hit the ground running
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines, working well under pressure
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills in order to manage and prioritise workload
  • Ability to take initiative, be self-motivating and delivery focused
  • Ability to work independently
  • MS Office essential – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience and interest of international higher education 
  • Flexibility to travel overseas 
  • Educated to a degree level
