The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education, participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. The provision of a stimulating and satisfying experience for students is a priority for the University.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

This position is responsible for helping RMIT teaching staff (both HE and VET) prepare their course environments in the new learning management system (LMS), Canvas, prior to the beginning of Semester 1 2018. This position will report to the Manager Academic Transformation, who is ultimately responsible for ensuring creation of all new course environments within the new LMS at RMIT. It will also work closely with the Student Workforce who are charged with assisting teaching staff with the rebuilding of existing course content into the new learning environment based on frameworks, design principles and development guidelines. From time-to-time there will be a requirement to liaise with key members of the technical implementation team and RMIT Studios to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach is taken to the project.

Skills & Experience Required

You will have demonstrated experience working within an environment of paradigm shift and have demonstrated experience in curriculum development. You will have a post-graduate qualification, consistent with the role of providing high level academic advice to students and other teaching staff. Your proven experience in developing and delivering quality learning in a learning management system and experience working in a team based environment to undertake original and unique tasks in an educational setting across a range of key stakeholder groups will be fundamental to your success in this role. Furthermore, your experience in providing professional development for both professional and teaching staff will be essential to this role.
