The University of Birmingham is seeking an inspirational leader for our College of Social Sciences. The appointment of the current Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) and Head of College, Professor Saul Becker, as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sussex, proves once again the University of Birmingham’s strength as a place where academic leadership thrives and grows.

The College of Social Sciences is a vibrant community of scholars, with over 600 academics and more than 250 Professional Services staff across a range of disciplines and interdisciplinary fields with work which impacts all areas of global society.

With sector-leading initiatives, the University is investing in its intellectual capacity, its beautiful campus and its student experience. Quite simply, at Birmingham we make things happen.

The PVC and Head of College is a member of the University Executive Board with full responsibility for leading the Social Sciences. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the PVC and Head of College will drive continued academic improvement, provide financial and managerial leadership and sustain the highest levels of excellence across all of the College’s activities.
