Lecturer/ Assistant Professor in Forestry (Permanent or Temporary)

Applications are invited for the role of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Forestry in the Environment and Sustainable Resource Management Section in UCD’s School of Agriculture and Food Science.  The UCD Forestry group within the Section consists of 5 academic staff members and a number of post-docs. The group are active in teaching, research and innovation. Currently there are 65 under-graduate students and 13 graduate students registered in the Forestry programmes.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in Forestry. The appointee will have specific expertise in Forestry that is relevant to the forestry sector in Ireland. He/she will be committed to further developing this expertise through academic research and engagement with industry partners, and to sharing this expertise through teaching undergraduate and graduate students. He/she will also be committed to developing their discipline in the School, University and wider community. 

The successful applicant will coordinate and deliver a number of academic modules either in full or in partnership with other staff members, focusing on the Forestry undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. The successful applicant will also conduct leading research appropriate to the objectives of the Section, School and University.  

The successful candidate will be offered a temporary (3 years) or permanent position based on experience and trajectory as determined by the interview Board.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
