The Academic General Practice Unit conducts health services research in the Fairfield Hospital GP Clinic and its offices in the Ingham Institute in Liverpool and the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity (CPHCE) in the AGSM Building at UNSW. The Data Manager Specialist primarily supports the electronic Practice Based Research Network (ePBRN) project which occupies office space at both Liverpool and UNSW Kensington campus. Apart from the computer network infrastructure established as part of the ePBRN, there are no laboratories involved;

The UNSW Research Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity (CPHCE) is a research centre in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of NSW and undertakes a range of research related to primary health care and equity. In addition the Centre co-manages and jointly funds four research, training and development hubs in three Local Health Districts;

About the role

  • $82K-$87K plus (9.5% Superannuation and annual leave loading )
  • Fixed Term for 6 months with possibility of extension
  • Full-time (35 hours per week)

The Academic General Practice Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Database Analyst to join the team. In this role, you will contribute to managing the ePBRN data repository to ensure access and fitness for purpose for research. The position will be based at the Ingham Institute in Liverpool.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in Computer Science or Health Informatics;
  • Have experience and skills in
    • data modelling, systems design and implementation, Web services creation and support;
    • management of databases, data repositories, networks and system architecture;
    • supporting networks, cloud computing, data extraction, transformation and linkage in data repositories, data quality assessment and improvement;
  • Have skills in
  • SQL and SPARQL to manage and analyse data repositories, generate reports and retrieve data;
  • Semantic web technologies and providing data-driven solutions or architecture for all computer settings or data resources.You should systematically address the selection criteria listed within the position description in your application.
