PhD Position in Historical Studies
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU, Trondheim), Department of Historical Studies, offers a full-time 3-year PhD position within the project "The Fate of Nations, Natural Resources and historical development 1880-2015", funded by the Norwegian Research Council (NFR). The PhD candidate will work with Professor Jonas Scherner. The department also hosts several other research projects which examine different aspects of the international political economy of natural resources. The PhD candidate will thus be part of a research team of 12-14 historians.
The PhD will contribute towards the main project by analyzing the raw material policy of Great Britain during the interwar period.

The successful applicants must participate in and complete the PhD programme in Historical and Cultural Studies within the period of the appointment. The Faculty of Humanities hosts 4 PhD programmes. The positions are remunerated according to salary level 50 in the national salary scheme, gross NOK 436 900,- annually (2017), of which 2 per cent is deducted for the State Pension scheme.
The appointments will be made in accordance with the current regulations for fellowship appointments at universities and the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants. Primary residency in Trondheim is a prerequisite.
