BPTC Programme Leader - Manchester

Key Responsibilities

You will be based at Manchester and be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and administration of the BPTC, including the following (which may be delegated to the module leaders and/or other BPTC tutors and the Registry team as appropriate):

  • Taking all steps possible to ensure the smooth-running of the programme at all times
  • Responding in a timely and effective manner to student and staff enquiries relating to the BPTC
  • Appraising BPTC staff
  • Attending all relevant BPTC Management and Programme Leader meetings and participating in management decisions relating to the BPTC generally
  • Assisting with the marketing of the BPTC including arranging and presenting at open days, attending careers fairs, etc
  • Organising the invigilation of BPTC examinations and the effective running of these examinations
  • Approving deferrals of assessments/extensions for handing in unsupervised assessments
  • Attending Exam Board Meetings and presenting BPTC results
  • Arranging the collation and production of assessment results during the academic year and final results at the end of the academic year
  • Monitoring of student attendance on the programme
  • Arranging and chairing regular Staff-Student Liaison Committee meetings for  students on the BPTC
  • Dealing with enquiries from prospective students
  • Arranging the preparation of the pre-programme materials for students and the student welcome intranet
  • Organising the collation of information for, and the updating of materials for, the student intranet and BPTC staff intranet
  • Assisting the Directors of BPTC Programmes with the preparation of programme documents including the Annual Programme Monitoring Report and the Programme Handbook
  • Assisting with the preparation for and smooth-running of external examiner visits
  • Liaising with the Director of BPTC Programmes in relation to the setting of term and assessment dates and collating feedback on the BPTC
  • Assisting the Director of BPTC Programmes with the recruitment of staff for the BPTC
  • Assisting the Director of BPTC Programmes with curriculum development, monitoring and improving the quality of the BPTC and ensuring compliance with the BSB’s BPTC Outcomes
  • Overseeing the timetabling and staffing of the BPTC
  • Teaching on the BPTC 

Qualification, Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Detailed knowledge of the BPTC Programme and the Course Specification and Requirements set by the BSB
  • Good presentation/communication skills at all levels
  • Initiative
  • Drive and vision for the programme which is compatible with the BPP mission statement
  • Good organisation/teaching skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire others
  • Relevant management/teaching/examining experience
  • A positive commitment towards and an understanding of the needs and issues faced by BPTC students
  • Good IT skills
  • Approved by the BSB to teach on the BPTC
  • A teaching qualification or Fellowship of the HEA or a commitment to achieving either of these through BPP’s PGCPE (Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education) or Headway, BPP’s accredited CPD scheme
