The School of Property, Construction and Project Management has undergraduate programs in Construction Management, Project Management, Property and Valuation.

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is a NSW Government statutory corporation with functions including the planning, oversight and delivery of transport infrastructure. Sydney Metro is Australia's largest infrastructure project involving a $20 billion program of works. Sydney Metro rail will be 65 km in length and once constructed will connect Sydney's North West via Sydney's newly constructed underground stations in the Central Business District (CBD) and beyond to Sydney's South West. It will increase the capacity of train services entering the Sydney CBD from approximately 120 per hour currently to up to 200 per hour beyond 2024.

The Centre for Construction Work Health & Safety Research has recently partnered with the Transport for NSW (TfNSW) through Sydney Metro to deliver a research program over the next three years.

These positions will provide a range of research initiatives to the project through the partnership between RMIT and TfNSW. The knowledge created by this partnership will be shared across the TfNSW to support innovation and continuous improvement and contribute to the legacy of Sydney Metro across the sector and the community.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The three Research positions can be appointed at any of the below levels and will be located partly within a School environment and embedded in the Australia rail industry within Transport for NSW. The fellows will work with research teams and partnerships in the School and in association with the Transport for NSW and its community, professional, commercial and industrial partners.

Research Fellow

The Research Fellow is required to undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy and the specific research project plan. The position will carry out independent and/or team research which has a significant impact in the area of their specialisation and be acknowledged at a national level as being influential in expanding the knowledge of their relevant discipline.

Senior Research Fellow

The Senior Research Fellow is required to undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy that emphasises relevant and applied research. The position will make independent and original contributions to research, which have a significant impact in the area of their specialisation as well as be acknowledged at an international level as being influential in expanding the knowledge of their relevant discipline.

Principle Research Fellow

The Principal Research Fellow is expected to provide leadership and foster excellence in research efforts of the School, within the University, and in association with the Transport for NSW. They will be responsible for leading the research program with Transport for NSW, and in providing original, innovative and distinguished contributions to the School's programs

Skills & Experience Required

Key to the position will be your working knowledge of the work health and safety field in the Australian rail/ construction industry. You will also have a demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders in an active client and industry partnered research environment. Furthermore, your ability to meet tight timeframes and to manage conflicting priorities in a commercial research environment will be essential to your success in this role.

Mandatory: PhD or equivalent experience in relevant field.
