PostDoctoral Associate in Computational Biomedicine, School of Medicine
We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who is passionate about applying the rigors of mathematics, physics and computation to understand the mechanisms of cardiovascular device-based therapies. The ideal candidate will have a background in biophysics or physical biology, programming experience in Python or Matlab, is able to work independently and contribute to collaborative research.
The funded project includes performing a wide range of tasks including scientific programming, biophysical modeling and ex vivo bench-top experimentation to validate models. The candidate will have some flexibility in choosing specific responsibilities and defining new tasks.
A minimum of 18-24 months is required with the possibility of longer employment. The Principal Investigator and his colleagues actively explore commercialization of technologies developed in the research setting. The candidate will have the opportunity to publish his/her work in leading multidisciplinary journals.
The postdoctoral associate will receive faculty mentorship and guidance for proposal development, preparation and guidance for future training and employment opportunities, and other training activities.
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in engineering (mechanical, computer or biomedical) within the past 5 years.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English are required.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.
- Experience with Unix/Linux is a plus and experience with Python or Matlab is preferred
