RMIT has established a new and exciting function to lead the university as it assists in creating real world Impact from its research and innovation outcomes. These two new roles will be members of the newly established team including other commercialisation and intellectual property professionals.

The Role and responsibilities

As one of the new Translation Managers you will work with the Translation team, RMIT Colleges, Schools and the Enabling Capability Platforms to implement the University's goals and the research translation plan in RMIT's Strategy called Directions 2020 through supporting researchers to translate their research into the world outside of the university.

The positions are responsible for translating intellectual property and research to create real benefit to the world outside of the university. This includes supporting researchers to create Impact by translating their research into government policy, new business practices and the translation of intellectual property such as design, artistic outputs and other research. As the successful candidate, you will have experience working within universities to identify research and innovation and then assist in creating benefit for society, the economy and the environment. The role includes building internal and external networks.

Skills & Experience Required

You will have experience in working within a university and with university partners to create Impact from research and innovation. In addition you may have developed narratives of research and innovation assisting public and private and social sector organisations through enhancing policy, practices and approach. Working experience within any of industry, government and/or social sector partners is essential. Your professional knowledge of university research including either STEM or HASS disciplines is extremely useful. Demonstrated success in negotiating legal and other arrangements for research translation will also be an expectation of successful candidates.

Furthermore, your demonstrated understanding of higher education and/or public sector research together with experience in facilitating and creating research impact will allow you to achieve success in this role.

Experience in creative design or public policy or business, private and social sector innovation as well as how innovation occurs across those sectors will enhance your success in this role.
