Job Outline

The Director of Admissions and Career Development Office leads the development and implementation of innovative student recruitment strategies and admission policies to achieve the University’s goals. The Director also provides leadership and direction to alumni relations & career development programs and services, including alumni programs, employer development, career counseling, job search assistance, internship development and etc.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Master’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Management or related discipline;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English;
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and relationship management skills;
  • Good planning and organisational skills;
  • Proven advanced analytical and problem solving capability;
  • Proven IT skills, including using MS Office applications;
  • At least 8 years of management experience on equivalent role in Chinese universities;
  • Ability to lead, coach, motivate and develop team to deliver consistent high quality service;
  • Able to work under pressure and to manage multiple tasks;
  • Awareness of data protection legislation, health and safety and equality and diversity;

Desirable

  • Familiarity and knowledge of the higher education;
  • Marketing experience in an international context;
  • High level of cultural sensitivity;

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Admissions and Career Development Office;
  • Develop and execute domestic UG recruitment (Gaokao) plans that support the strategic enrollment goals of the University;
  • Provide information, advice and support to enquirers, applicants and students;
  • Manage admission process for Gaokao recruits, as well as postgraduate (teaching) and international students;
  • Provide support to the producing of Undergraduate Prospectus, Alumni Magazine and a variety of other publications;
  • Supervise the Admissions and Career Development related information published on websites, social media and etc.;
  • Expand and enhance the public image of UNNC through effective recruitment campaign;
  • Work closely with student support units (e.g. Student Affairs Office, the Hub and etc.) to guarantees successful student integration into the University and supports retention;
  • Develop and lead comprehensive career development programs and services for students;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and external partners;
  • Lead and promote life-long alumni programs and services;
  • Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally;
  • Foster collaboration with internal shareholders, e.g. faculties, schools, departments, staff, students, and external shareholders, e.g. parents, schools, agents, partners, government offices, UK and Malaysia Campus, to achieve strategic goals;
  • Provide support, guidance, and advice to staff across the University on student recruitment, admissions, alumni and career development;
  • Develop strategy, policy and process formation and lead performance review relating to Admissions and Career Development;
  • Prepare reports related to Recruitment, Admissions, Alumni and Career Development;
  • Represent the University externally in conferences, seminars, events and etc.;
  • Develop and lead on & off campus activities to support student recruitment and career development;
  • Accountable for data informed decisions and strategic decisions about recruitment opportunities;
  • Participate in training and staff development events, as trainer or trainee as appropriate;
  • Maintain appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness;
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
