Animal Care Staff (SPF Technician)

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST; see www.oist.jp) is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking beautiful shoreline and coral reefs. Position summary:
Management of care and husbandry in OIST animal facilities.

Position:
Animal Care Staff, Animal Resources Section

Working Location:
1919-1 Tancha, Onna-son, Okinawa, Japan 904-0495

Responsibilities:
1.    Management of animal care and husbandry in animal facilities corroborating with outsourcing staff
2.    Quarantine: Introduction of SPF mice (Implantation of fertilized embryo)
3.    Adequate and effective management of requests from researcher     
4.    Management of number of animals purchased, breed and used in animal facilities

Qualifications:
(Required)
1.    Bachelor of Biology or Biology related field                    
2.    Management experience of animal facilities (Rodent)
3.    Experience of fertilized embryo implantation
4.    English communication skill with business level

(Preferred)
1.    Ph.D or Veterinarian
2.    Experience of Genome EditingTerm:

Full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years. Contract initially with 3 month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed.  

Working hours:
9:00-17:30 (Discretionary)

Compensation:
In accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations
Annual salary: 5.0 million ~ 8.7 million yen (Job class: Research Support Specialist I, RS2)
