About the role
An exceptional career opportunity exists for a professional and motivated Solicitor to provide legal advice and support to the University’s management and staff. This is a new role to add to our established legal team, working within Chancellery and Council Services, and you will focus on a broad range of practice areas including administrative law, corporate governance, public policy, contract arrangements, intellectual property, complex complaints management, property related transactions and legislative compliance, including Freedom of Information.
Skills and Experience
With prior experience in providing specialist and strategic advice on complex and sensitive legal matters, you will have a proven ability to influence, inform and engage effectively with staff at all levels of the business. To ensure success in the role, you will have a sound grasp of relevant legislation and case law that apply to the university’s operations. Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial and research related contracts, as well as providing accurate and practical legal advice across a range of complex legal issues and areas of law relevant to the tertiary education sector is essential. Proven experience in plain English drafting is important. The ability to manage a complex and significant workload and previous experience in the Higher Education sector will also be advantageous.
