Leeds College of Art has played a central role in providing specialist education in the arts for 170 years and has developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students. This is an exciting and dynamic time in the College’s strategic development. The Privy Council recently granted the College Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP) and we are now working towards becoming the first specialist arts university in the North.

A vacancy has arisen for a Pathway Leader in the Fashion & Textiles pathway on the Extended Diploma in Art and Design. The duties of the post include some teaching on the diagnostic first year of the course and responsibility for the planning and delivery of the second year Fashion & Textiles specialist pathway. There will be administrative responsibilities in addition to the teaching.

The Fashion & Textiles pathway is for students who are interested in applying for degree courses in Fashion Design, Fashion Promotion and Styling, Contour Design, Costume Design, Textile Design, Printed Textiles, Textile Art, Surface Pattern, Fashion Illustration, Fashion Marketing and Retail. A strong interest in current conventions of contemporary design and an ability to support the progression of students moving through a Level 3 Extended Diploma course will be essential to the role.

Applicants should have a degree in a Fashion and Textiles related subject and a teaching qualification. They should be able to demonstrate a technical appreciation of processes and equipment relevant to the pathway, knowledge of the industry and courses at degree level that could benefit the students learning experience and progression into HE.
