We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor as a Project Coordinator to coordinate a major project that is evaluating a vaccine to prevent Ebola infection (the EBOVAC1 project). This post provides an exciting opportunity to work on the EBOVAC1 project, which comprises a set of clinical trials designed to evaluate prophylactic Ebola vaccines manufactured by Janssen and Merck. This includes participation in staged safety and immunogenicity trials in Sierra Leone. 

The post-holder will be required to contribute to study design, to provide coordination between the sites, to liaise with trial sponsors and to supervise and guide site trial coordinators. The successful applicant will be required to spend a significant proportion of their time in Africa. 

The post-holder will be employed as a staff member of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine within the Faculty of Infectious & Tropical Diseases. The successful applicant will have a post graduate qualification in epidemiology or a related field; proven expertise in the management of clinical trials related to infectious diseases and/or vaccines; experience in clinical/laboratory procedures in research and collaborative research involving human clinical, epidemiological or laboratory outcomes and experience in strategic planning and development. This full-time post is fixed term for one year initially, funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) of the European Commission. The appointment will be made on the School’s Academic Pathway Grade 7 scale in the range £44,226 to £50,629 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this, there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
