Professor / Associate Professor of Metabolomics and Director, Singapore Phenome Centre
The School’s research strategy is based on four key disease themes in Metabolic Disorders, Infection and Immunity, Neuroscience and Mental Health, and Dermatology and Skin Biology, with cross-cutting themes in Genome Stability, Developmental and Regenerative Biology and Population and Global Health, providing potential for synergistic interdisciplinary research with elite research and healthcare institutes.
The School now invites applicants with an international reputation in both research and education in Metabolomics to apply for an appointment at Full Professor / Associate Professor level, which will be based full-time in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of research and teaching in an innovative new medical school in a globally vibrant environment. Reporting to the Scientific Director of Metabolic Disorders Research Programme, Vice Dean, Research and Dean, the appointee is expected to undertake high quality research in Metabolomics in line with the research strategy of the School and in conjunction with other recent appointments, obtain research funding and supervise research staff and students. The appointee is also expected to undertake teaching and educational responsibilities for the training of medical students and postgraduate research students.
The appointee is expected to hold a concurrent appointment as Director, Singapore Phenome Centre (SPC) and under the direction of the Chair, SPC Steering Committee, provide the scientific leadership to drive the development and implementation of the existing research strategy of the Centre. The appointee is expected to work closely with other institutes, centres and programmes across NTU to grow interdisciplinary research.
- PhD and/or MD degree(s)
- Relevant postdoctoral experience
- Significant experience and outstanding, proven track record in building up globally competitive research programmes, and as a leader in the field of metabolomics having shown research application in medicine, biology, and environmental sciences
- Ability to supervise junior research staff
- Proven track record of strong leadership and ability to drive change
- Good communication skills and an appreciation for constructive teamwork
- Willing to participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education and training
