The Department of Biological Sciences, within the School of Life Sciences and Education, is a small but expanding unit of talented, flexible and ambitious academics.  Staffordshire University has a long tradition of high quality teaching and learning in analytical science and the BSc/MSci (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science award adds to cohorts in Biomedical and Healthcare Science to create a vibrant bioscience portfolio.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Science (Bioanalytical Science) to join our dynamic team of experienced academics delivering programmes from level 4 through to level 8.

Our course portfolio currently offers two main foci;

  • BSc/ MSci (Hons) Biomedical Science, Healthcare Science, Human Biology and Pharmaceutical Science. Masters (MSc) in Molecular Biology
  • BSc/MSci (Hons) Biological Science, Animal Biology & Conservation and Forensic Biology.

This new post will contribute to core teaching across the department and specifically to the awards of Pharmaceutical Science, Biomedical and Healthcare Sciences as appropriate. We work closely with colleagues in the School of Law, Policing and Forensics to co-deliver Pharmaceutical Science and the postholder will be expected to integrate their activity in this cross-disciplinary approach. Engagement in the development of further new and innovative provision, including short courses, is required.

All awards within the portfolio place an emphasis on development of the scientific practitioner and therefore the successful candidate must be able to devise, develop and deliver practical learning.   Applicants for this Lectureship will have a PhD and appropriate experience in Pharmaceutical Science or related area, with an emphasis on bioanalytical science. We particularly welcome candidates with knowledge of drug design, biologics, synthesis, characterisation and delivery, bioavailability, bioanalysis, molecular biology and/or drug biochemistry. Candidates should have good knowledge of the pharmaceutical and life science related industries.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic teacher able to deliver pharmaceutical science throughout the curriculum and will inform their teaching with active research, consultancy and outreach work.
