The School of Built Environment and Engineering is looking to recruit an ambitious, enthusiastic and forward thinking Head of Subject for the Civil Engineering subject area, who will form part of the School leadership team covering both Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses. The successful applicant will be expected to provide academic leadership within the subject group and to promote cross discipline working within the School. Both industry and research areas are to be supported and expanded by the successful candidate.

We welcome applicants with a PhD, or other higher degree. Applications are also invited from those with a background in professional practice who can demonstrate extensive knowledge in the areas described, and/or an aptitude for teaching and research capability. Corporate membership, or eligibility for corporate membership, of the Institution of Civil or Structural Engineers (ICE or IStructE) is preferable. The Civil Engineering Group expects the successful applicants to add to, and develop the delivery of the Civil Engineering courses at all levels and enhance the reputation of the School’s provision in this increasingly important profession. We are looking for an innovative approach to teaching and the subject area with extensive knowledge and drive to engage students in the area of Civil engineering to help the School increase student satisfaction of the taught courses and the progression of our students.
