The School of Built Environment and Engineering is looking to recruit a high calibre Course Director for the Postgraduate provision within Civil Engineering. The successful applicant will be significantly involved in the delivery and leadership of the Postgraduate provision, with particular reference to the dissertations. As the MSc is of a technical nature with specific professional emphasis, it is of vital importance that the successful candidate will need to liaise and develop industry relationships to encourage industry engagement with students and the course and engage in the development of high profile research and enterprise relationships / projects.

The successful candidates will be lecturers or practitioners who can demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and subject leadership in civil engineering subject areas at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The ability to offer expertise in developing and delivering project based modules is also desirable.

We welcome applicants with a PhD, or other higher degree. Applications are also invited from those with a background in professional practice who can demonstrate extensive knowledge in the areas described, and/or an aptitude for teaching and research capability. Corporate membership, or eligibility for corporate membership, of the Institution of Civil or Structural Engineers (ICE or IStructE) is preferable.

The  successful applicants is expected  to add to, and develop the delivery of the Civil Engineering courses at all levels and enhance the reputation of the School’s provision in this increasingly important profession. You will have the passion and drive to ensure that all programmes and modules in the Discipline area deliver inspiring teaching, learning and assessment, resulting in excellent student experience.
