Position overview

Led by Professor Mick Dodson AM, the National Centre for Indigenous Studies (NCIS) promotes and initiates cross-disciplinary research and teaching in a wide range of areas of relevance to Indigenous Australians. Through this research, NCIS aims to deepen Australia's understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories and ensure Indigenous knowledge, perspectives and experiences are respected, valued, accessed and incorporated into all learning environments at The Australian National University (ANU) and beyond.

This position represents a great opportunity for a developing Indigenous scholar. The position will contribute to all aspects of the Centre’s work with an emphasis on studying in a PhD program at NCIS, with the PhD topic harmonised with their Research Associate duties.  As well as completing a PhD within a supportive environment, the scholar will gain hands-on high-level research and administrative experience. This position articulates with the ANU’s strategic vison to support Indigenous Academic development and staff and articulates with campus wide initiative aimed at opportunities for secure future employment at Australia’s National University.
