Hours: Full-time ( 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year)

Since 1850 St Mary’s has been preparing students for flourishing lives and successful careers within a strong community of trust and respect based on our Catholic ethos and identity. We are therefore expanding our enterprise and innovation work, to enable us to resource new projects for the University and bring new opportunities to our staff, students and community.

One of these innovative projects is The Exchange, a newly built venue in Twickenham which has a 300 seat auditorium, six studio rooms, a café and a bar. The Exchange will develop a public programme of events in Theatre, Film, Music and Comedy as well as be a well-used resource by community groups and St Mary's students and staff.   

As Technical Manager at The Exchange you will be responsible for the technical provision for all shows and hirings and becoming fully knowledgeable about the technical facilities in the Exchange Theatre space. You will also be a point of contact as regards the wider technical aspects of the building including alarms, lifts, plant rooms etc. Maintenance work will be supported by the wider St Mary’s organisation. You will support the Director of The Exchange to ensure all aspects of this exciting new venture start well and develop as expected. 

You will have strong technical background and skills preferably in a venue context as well as good interpersonal skills and experience of working with a range of different people.  You will have plenty of initiative and be able to work on a wide variety of different projects, managing competing deadlines and working under pressure.  The role will involve working in the evenings and weekends when events are on.
