It has a consolidated turnover of some £150 million, 10,000 students and a total staff of approximately 2,000.

Keele has grown very significantly in the last two years and invested heavily in its campus and infrastructure. Keele is the top ranking University for student satisfaction in the NSS for each of the last three years and has secured Gold rating in the TEF. The University now seeks to appoint a full-time PVC Education.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for all areas of activity relating to teaching and learning and the academic offer. Priorities will include: creating greater coherency across Keele degree programmes; establishing new curriculum areas; ensuring the excellent reputation for teaching translates into quality applications; growing the postgraduate portfolio; embedding a more coordinated approach to distance-learning; increasing international student numbers, including TNE; and continuing to raise Keele’s superb profile for education. The PVC Education will be a member of the University Executive Team and will have strategic leadership responsibility for a newly established Institute for Innovation and Enhancement of Learning and Teaching.

Ambitious, creative, energetic and determined, the successful candidate will demonstrate strategic vision and well-honed leadership skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across the institution. Ideally of professorial status, the appointee will probably have served as Head of School or Department, Associate Dean or equivalent previously. With this appointment and the parallel role of PVC (Students), Keele is investing significantly in this area of strategic importance, in order to enhance still further its already superb reputation for its educational offer.

Keele University values diversity, and is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity, and to proper and fair representation across its senior decision making groups. In support of these commitments, the University particularly welcomes expressions of interest and applications from women and from individuals of black and ethnic minority backgrounds, for this post.
