Full / Associate / Assistant in Petroleum Engineering

 The School of Mining and Geosciences (SMG) at the Nazarbayev University invites applications for faculty members at all levels. The successful candidate must have a PhD degree within Petroleum Engineering or a closely related discipline with a proven research track record and teaching experience commensurate with appointment rank. 
Applications are encouraged from candidates with backgrounds and interests in petroleum engineering including but not limited to, reservoir expertise (engineering and simulation), completions, drilling, production and operations and other related fields. Excellent communication skills and English fluency are required.
Nazarbayev University was launched in 2010 as the premier national and regional research university, partnering with some of the most internationally recognized names in Higher Education. The School of Mining and Geosciences was established in 2016 and aimed to educate tomorrow’s earth science leaders for Kazakhstan, the region and the world. The NU campus is located in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, in the heart of the new and ultra-modern Left-Bank region of the city. The appointment is a 3-year renewable contract subject to annual performance reviews. An attractive remuneration package for international faculty members includes:

  • internationally competitive salary;
  • annual holiday leave of 56 calendar days;

  • rent-free apartment for the appointee and dependents; and,
  • relocation allowance including air fares for the appointee and dependents.
