Job Description

As a member of the Center for Advancing Health Policy and Practice (CAHPP) The Research Assistant (RA) will support research and policy analysis activities. The RA may also support other activities involving evaluation, technical assistance and training. The RA is expected to contribute to one or more research projects in a variety of ways.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct literature reviews, organize, summarize and report findings.
  • Prepare interview guides and research surveys.
  • Recruit and/or interview subjects in the field.
  • Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects as necessary.
  • Prepare materials for research Institutional Review Boards (IRB).
  • Assist in the preparation of peer reviewed manuscripts, white papers, other articles, reports and presentations.
  • Attend area seminars, conferences and other meetings as necessary.
  • Attend project meetings.
  • Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by Principal Investigator (PI), lead researcher or project manager.

  • Organizational and coordination; Ability to coordinate and organize materials for regular team meetings and larger national grantee meetings.
  • Knowledge; Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge and fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures.
  • Experience with specialized software or datasets, as required by the PI/lead researcher.
  • Team Work; Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.

This position is eligible for tuition remission at Boston University, and students currently working on their Masters degrees in the Boston area are encouraged to apply.

Required Skills

Bachelors Degree in Public Health, or related discipline

Preferred Education

Masters degree in Public Health, Public Policy, or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent speaking, reading and writing in Spanish.
  • Proficient in research library software (Mendeley, EndNote).
  • Proficient in analytical software (SAS, SPSS, STATA, NVivo).
  • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative methodology and data collection.
  • Knowledge of HIV treatment in case in the United States; particularly within Ryan White funding.
