The University of Queensland (UQ) has an ambition to create an inclusive education accessible to all domestic and overseas students. A Future Students division, within the External Engagement portfolio, has been created to support this aim which harnesses UQ's capability across all areas of recruitment, enabling cross functional support between domestic and international. The Future Students division will be led by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Future Students) who will develop and lead a student recruitment and engagement strategy aligned with the UQ Student Strategy, to position UQ as the University that provides students with the opportunity to transform their ambitions into reality.

The role

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Future Students) is responsible for leading the recruitment of domestic and international coursework students to the University. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Future Students) will develop and oversee UQ’s strategy for engagement with secondary schools across Australia, including the University’s involvement in Education and Career expos; develop and lead the University’s strategy for the recruitment of international coursework students; oversee the pathways and programs offered through the University’s Institute for Continuing and TESOL Education; as well as lead the activities undertaken in the Future Students Contact Centre.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Future Students) will develop new policies and approaches for the recruitment of domestic and international coursework students, in addition to working with University stakeholders to develop appropriate strategies and activities which strengthen the overall experience of the University's students.

The person

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strategic leadership in the recruitment of future students, with entrepreneurial thinking and an understanding of organisational-wide campaigns which involve a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. High level interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with an emphasis on cross-cultural contexts, will be highly valued.
