Public health is a broad discipline that is oriented to protecting and promoting the health of communities. The field of epidemiology is a core element of public health, contributing to the methodology, language and evidence that underpin public health theory, research and practice. As such, the function of epidemiology is crucial within a public health Academic group both within teaching programs and research projects.

This is a continuing, full time position primarily based at the Gold Coast campus, however the successful applicant will also be required to work on other campuses of the University.

The role:

This position is a member of the public health team within the School of Medicine academic staff. The position is based at the Gold Coast campus, with teaching programs currently delivered at the Gold Coast, South Bank and Nathan campuses. The public health undergraduate and postgraduate programs include courses in the theory and practice of epidemiology. Teaching, research and student support will be primarily required at the Gold Coast and South Bank campuses. Attendance at other Griffith University campuses will be required.

The person:

The candidate will lead the specialty of epidemiology within the public health team in relation to teaching, research and service. The successful person will participate in course convenorship, teaching, program and course development, as well as the supervision of honours, masters and higher degree by research students. The person will be expected to have a strong research track record, including a demonstrated interest in the conduct of epidemiological studies. The position will involve establishing collaborative partnerships that support learning and teaching, research and service with the public health profession, the health industry and the broader community.

Salary range:

Senior Lecturer, Level C: $111,104 - $128,113 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $129,993 - $149,893 per annum.

Lecturer, Level B: $90,697 - $107,706 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $106,116 - $126,017 per annum.
