The Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing at Coventry University is one of the largest in the UK, and is nationally and internationally renowned as a centre of innovation for its teaching, learning and research.

We are successfully growing our student numbers and our research, fostering strong regional, national and global links. Further investment has led to the creation of a range of new posts to support research, teaching and learning.  As such, we are looking for experienced academic staff who can underpin their teaching with research to support the overall vision of the University and help us to improve our growing reputation.

The School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics provides innovative undergraduate and postgraduate courses and is home to over two thousand students. It is one of three schools in the Faculty and has a very successful suite of courses supported by excellent staff, teaching facilities and laboratories. The school is responsible for the development of a thriving portfolio of teaching and research. We offer a wide range of undergraduate degrees in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Hardware and Software Engineering as well as Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics and other related courses. Our postgraduate courses cover similar topic areas and in particular we offer MSc degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Embedded Microelectronics and Wireless Systems.  Due to the continued growth and success of our undergraduate and postgraduate electrical and electronic engineering teaching and growing research profile we wish to appoint a lecturer or senior in electrical and electronic engineering who has a specialist background in: embedded processors (microprocessors & microcontrollers), embedded systems, analogue and digital electronics and experimental methods. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise individual student practical projects and manage the current electronics laboratory.

With a PhD and appropriate professional qualification and/or membership of a professional body, you should be able to demonstrate teaching experience at higher education level with evidence of successful student learning outcomes and have a strong portfolio of research outputs appropriate to your experience.  You will be responsible for the development, preparation and delivery of learning, teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level, ensuring the teaching for which you are responsible for is informed by contemporary research in the relevant field and develops the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse and rational thinking.

You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge in your area of specialisation and support the school’s research culture.  You must be willing to work flexibly and promote and support international partnerships, as well as potentially deliver teaching onsite at one of our international partners.

Successful candidates will be encouraged to become an active member of one of the Faculty Research Centres (FRCs).  As such you will actively contribute to research groups or communities of practice internally and/or externally, assisting with bids and tenders for external projects or contracts. You will also disseminate research outputs and develop external networks nationally and/or internationally.

The position is also open to candidates who wish to focus on teaching practice, development and management.

Experience of working on applied research projects or contracts, as well as participation in professional practice/consultancy will be advantageous.
