Professor of Periodontics
The School of Dentistry and Oral Health at Griffith University was the first new dental school in Australia for almost 60 years. The School graduated its first cohort of dentists at the end of 2008 and has a proud history of producing outstanding professional dentists, dental technologists and clinical dental technicians/prosthetists. With the opening of the Griffith Health Centre in July 2013, the School now enjoys one of the best training facilities in Australia. The School achieved an impressive 2015 ERA rank of 5 and this senior position is expected to contribute to research within the school.
As the Professor of Periodontics you will plan and lead periodontal education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conduct research, and undertake administrative duties. This is a critical, newly created position which will see you build upon our already strong program of dental and oral health courses and develop clinical and research partnerships aimed at improving health and community care through the health professions.

The Professor of Periodontics will support the Head of School in implementing the School's Learning & Teaching and Research Plans and will be expected to advance research-informed clinical education and research within the School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
You will hold a specialist qualification in periodontics and eligibility for registration as a dental practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation. Key to the role will be the responsibility of providing effective leadership in developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate courses and innovative approaches to teaching, research and scholarship. You will contribute significantly to the School's research performance by attracting competitive research grants, publishing high quality research papers in leading academic journals, and recruiting and supervising honours students, post-doctoral researchers and research higher degree candidates.
A salary package that includes a base professorial salary of $172,326 per annum and an employer superannuation contribution of 17% of base salary will be offered.
