The Health Group at Griffith University is one of the largest academic health groups in the Australian University sector. With eight schools across five campuses, it is a leader in health education and research in South East Queensland.

Menzies Health Institute Queensland focuses on allied health research, building on its strength of interdisciplinary approaches underpinned by outstanding biomedical and social research. Developing healthy communities through research and research translation is a key priority and this is supported by strong links with community and health organisations. Within the Institute is the Centre for Applied Health Economics which has several programs of research in health economics, including health technology assessment for the Australian Government, multiple research grants with national bodies (eg ARC, NHMRC) which focus on cardiovascular disease, dementia, decision-making, and valuation of health states.

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Allied Health Economics (CAHE), this role is part of the senior management team in CAHE. The role is predominantly a research-only position that is responsible for leading and enhancing research around the economics of chronic disease interventions and policy s. The Research Fellow will also contribute to other applied health economics initiatives within the Centre.

The successful applicant will have completed a PhD in a health economics or other relevant discipline and will have demonstrated strengths in microeconomics, economics, biostatistics and/or economic evaluation of health care evaluations, an existing academic track record and strong leadership skills. The position will provide input into grant applications, develop (pilot) projects and provide advice on measuring health outcomes. Therefore the successful applicant will have a significant track record in ability to attract research funding and publications in peer-reviewed journals with strengths in health economics.

This is a fixed term, full-time Associate Professor position that is based at the Nathan campus.

Salary Range:

Associate Professor, Level D: $133,778 - $147,383 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $156,521 - $172,439 per annum.
