Postdoc Position in Biopolymers / Surface and Colloid Chemistry
A Postdoc position is available at the Department of Chemical Engineering. The position is financed by the Research Council of Norway and will be part of the project Ligno2G. The fellowship will be carried out at Ugelstad Laboratory (http://www.ntnu.edu/chemeng/research/colloid-and-polymer-chemistry). The appointment has an intended duration of 2 years and four months.

The current research fields at the Department includes biorefinery and fiber technology, catalysis, colloid and polymer chemistry, environmental engineering and reactor technology and process systems engineering. The Postdoctoral fellowship is part of the “Ligno2G” project, funded by the Research Council of Norway. The project aims at developing functional biopolymers for high value applications through chemical modification of lignin. The candidate will work with development of methodologies that allow evaluation of the surface active properties and the behavior of the modified biopolymers under various conditions (pH, salinity, temperature, pressure) representative for their end application in e.g. oil well drilling, batteries and agricultural formulations.
Applicants should have a PhD within Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics. Interfacial and colloid chemical phenomena as well as chemical engineering are core research topics in the project and experimental training in these fields, including microfluidic methods, is highly advantageous.
Terms of employment
The appointment of the Postdoc will be made according to Norwegian guidelines for universities and university colleges and to the general regulations regarding university employees.
NTNU’s personnel policy objective is that the staff must reflect the composition of the population to the greatest possible extent.
The position as Postdoc is remunerated according to the Norwegian State salary scale. There is a 2% deduction for superannuation contribution.
