The Chief Executive will be responsible to the Chair, Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, and to the Board of the Russell Group comprising the heads of the 24 Russell Group universities, from 1 September 2017. You will be responsible for the strategic direction and the efficient delivery and effective performance of the Russell Group of Universities.
You will have a proven record of strategic leadership and considerable knowledge and expertise in the fields of higher education and/or public policy. You will be capable of bringing together the best research and policy advice and effective representation to government, associated government bodies and other stakeholders. You will be highly competent and experienced in influencing at senior levels within government, policy development and research policy making authorities, and other equivalent stakeholders from within or outside the higher education sector.
A strong team leader, you will inspire, motivate and develop teams and individuals, demonstrating well developed management and delegation skills. A natural collaborator, you will be able to cultivate strong partnerships and collaborations, to secure mutually beneficial outcomes for the Group, its external partners and stakeholders. With sound judgement and a well-honed political antenna, you will be comfortable representing the interests of the Group at the most senior levels in both the public and private sectors, acting, when appropriate, as the public face of the Russell Group.
