We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and capable research fellow in social science to join the FIEBRE study. The post holder will support the social science work in three countries in which the FIEBRE study is taking place. The post holder will ensure that the social science research undertaken in the three country sites are completed to a high standard and that findings are relevant to inform country and global decision making to address antimicrobial resistance. The role will be a part of a dynamic academic team in the Anthropology of Antimicrobial Resistance Group.

The ideal candidate will be have a postgraduate education, with a Masters and/or PhD in anthropology, sociology or a related discipline as well as experience working in public health in global settings. They will have substantial experience in all processes involved in carrying out qualitative research including protocol development, ethical approvals, training and piloting, carrying out fieldwork such as interviews and ethnographic observation, and in writing and dissemination of findings. Excellent analytical, communication, organisation and problem solving skills are essential. The post will be predominantly based in London and the successful candidate will be willing to travel, up to 30% of the time. The successful candidate will be able to use their initiative and demonstrate the ability to manage a busy workload and confidently multitask to meet deadlines.

The post is full time and available for four years. The salary will be on the Academic Pathway Grade 6 scale in the range £37,889 – £43,028 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
