The Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) is responsible for communicating the University’s strategic objectives to state, national and international audiences, enhancing UQ’s success by providing a highly innovative, professional and integrated approach to marketing, communications and events. Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) the University is seeking an outstanding Executive Director, Strategic Marketing and Communications to join the External Engagement team.

The primary focus of the role will be to lead the Office of Marketing and Communications and facilitate a ‘One UQ’ approach to brand management, increasing global awareness of UQ and ensuring strategic alignment with UQ’s mission, vision and values. This significant leadership role provides professional, strategic advice and guidance, working collaboratively with the central units, faculties and institutes to achieve their goals.

Your demonstrated leadership capabilities and proven track record of success in relation to marketing, events, communications and public affairs strategies in a large and complex organisation, will be key to success. Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills should be coupled with your ability to actively engage, inspire and effectively influence all levels of the University and a wide range of external stakeholders. Innovative thinking, a working knowledge of contemporary marketing and communications practice, including digital strategies, and your proven track record of supporting brand reputation within an ambitious, and complex organisation, is essential.
