Course Leader – Contemporary Design Crafts and Jewellery
£31,316 - £36,491 per annum
Full Time

Hereford College of Arts is a vibrant, dedicated arts college with a specialist focus on art, media, design, popular music and performing arts. The curriculum includes undergraduate and postgraduate degrees alongside a range of Further Education programmes and a wide ranging short course programme.  Our mission is to empower creativity and enrich our world through transformative arts education.   We are proud of our track record but have ambitious plans to develop and grow.  Hereford city and the wider region are also full of ambition with a new engineering university in development and a dynamic bid for UK City of Culture 2021 galvanising arts and businesses across the region.   We are rooted in an exceptional place and connected to the world.

At this exciting time we seek to appoint a Course Leader for our Contemporary Design Crafts BA (Hons) and Jewellery Design BA (Hons) programmes. You will be passionately engaged with the dynamic world of craft and design, with a network of contacts to enrich your teaching and the student experience.   You will have an excellent knowledge across the field of contemporary craft practice including digital making and considerable experience of teaching in Higher Education.  You will be eager to develop collaborations and interdisciplinary projects within the college and with external organisations and businesses, and to inspire students with confidence and understanding of the role craft practice may have in different contexts.

It is expected you will take on the leadership of both our Contemporary Design Crafts BA (Hons) and Jewellery BA (Hons) and that you will also welcome the opportunity to propose new modules/programmes for the crafts portfolio.

We believe in the importance of craft education.  Our innovative and distinctive Artist Blacksmithing BA (Hons) already has an international reputation.  We are looking for a Course Leader to help us take our courses into the next creative chapter, to build on our traditional commitment to craft and ensure Hereford College of Arts is a beacon for students seeking outstanding contemporary crafts education in a specialist and personal environment.
