Lecturer or Assistant Professor in Linguistics

The Department of English Studies at the University of Cyprus invites applications for visiting academic positions for the Fall Semester 2017-2018 (01/09/2017 – 31/12/2017) and for the Spring Semester 2017-2018 (15/01/2018-31/05/2018), in Linguistics, at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor.

Depending on the candidates attracted, this could be either one (1) position for the whole 2017-2018 academic year or two (2) positions, one for each semester.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a relevant subject. The successful candidate(s) will be required to teach a total of six (6) courses over the two semesters, all of them for the BA in English Studies:

  1. ENG25x Topics in Phonetics & Phonology of English in Fall Semester 2017-2018
  2. Two (2) elective courses within her/his specialization in Fall Semester 2017-2018
  3. ENG161 Language & Mind in Spring Semester 2017-2018
  4. ENG341 Psycholinguistics in Spring Semester 2017-2018
  5. One (1) elective course within her/his specialization in Spring Semester 2017-2018
  6. Monthly gross salaries according to the current legislation for these positions are approximately:
  7. Visiting Academic (Assistant Professor): €3,082.68
  8. Visiting Academic (Lecturer): €2,688.78

Applicants should ensure, before submitting an application, that in case they are selected they will be residing in Cyprus on a full time basis during the employment period; submission of application implies acceptance of this condition. Furthermore, acceptance of this term must be also explicitly stated in the letter of application.
