Duke Kunshan University is seeking to hire a full-time post-doc research fellow to work at Duke Kunshan University in Kunshan, China. The post-doc researcher will work on modeling, analysis and visualization of large-scale data sets and will be supervised by Prof. Xin Li (http://ece.duke.edu/faculty/xin-li).

Duke Kunshan University is now initiating new education and research programs in applied physical sciences and engineering, focusing on computer engineering, data analytics, imaging and vision technologies, robotics, etc. The initiative aims to attract internationally renowned faculty members, academic researchers and highly motivated students to explore interdisciplinary education and research opportunities at Duke Kunshan University.

This position is located in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, China.

Essential Duties:
Under the supervision of Prof. Xin Li and independently (listed in descending order of time allocation and priority)

  • Work on data analytics for engineering applications, including literature review, algorithm development, software implementation, methodology validation, and other related tasks;
  • Interact with academic and industrial collaborators from other institutions and organizations;
  • Provide assistance to research work including but not limited to technical presentations and reports, academic publications, conference presentations, etc.;
  • Supervise junior students on their research projects;
  • Any other research-related tasks required by the team leader.


  • Receive Ph.D. degree from a top Chinese or foreign university. If the Ph.D. degree is received in China, it must be awarded by a 985 institute;
  • Carry strong interests in academic research and technical innovation;
  • Have 3+ years of research experiences in data analytics;
  • Willing to make short domestic and international trips to attend conferences and workshops or visit academic and industrial collaborators;
  • Proficient and experienced in using MS Office, MATLAB, C/C++ and R (optional);
  • Hard working, fast learning, team building, and attention to details;
  • Thrive working in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese.

Terms and Compensation:

  • Working for one year or longer;
