The Role

Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion (SENI).

You will be contributing to the teaching, tutoring and assessment on a number of programmes all centred around Special Educational Needs and Inclusion at undergraduate, and where appropriate, postgraduate programmes. These include employment based programmes and more traditional undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

You will be working collegiately within a team to ensure that student experience is central, quality is high, research informs teaching and programmes are rigorous and challenging. You are encouraged to be proactive, innovative and creative in your approach to all aspects of your work whilst ensuring that the necessary quality assurance processes are respected. You will be expected to contribute to and / or develop a portfolio of work within this area which will include learning and teaching related activities, research, knowledge exchange, consultancy and scholarly activity, academic leadership, management and administration and contributing to the external profile of the directorate and school.

The Person

The essential qualification for the senior lecturer is a relevant Masters/higher degree with it being desirable that you hold a PhD and/or fellowship of the HEA and /or professional qualification. For a lecturer the essential qualification is that you hold a relevant first degree with it being desirable that you hold a relevant Master / higher degree and /or professional qualification. With regards to knowledge, amongst other requirements you will need to demonstrate (senior lecturer - cutting edge) expertise in two (Lecturer – one) of the following areas: Assessment of Special Educational Needs ; Online Education; Physical and Medical Conditions; Autism; SENCO roles; Inclusive and Assistive Technology; Special Needs Psychology

Essential experience for senior lecturer is: Relevant experience teaching and researching in higher education; experience of supervising students on placement and/or on higher degrees; experience of working in SENI in a management position and experience of research / KE related to SENI leading to publications or income generation. Essential experience for a lecturer is experience of working SENI; relevant experience of delivering teaching / training and experience of supporting students or colleagues in their learning.
