Director of Finance

Led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Janet Beer, the University is entering an exciting period of strategic development following the launch of their Strategy 2026, as they seek to enhance their dynamic reputation and performance in a rapidly evolving higher education environment. The University is now looking to appoint a new Director of Finance.
The University of Liverpool has turnover of around £500 million on which it generates a healthy operating surplus. Its primary financial objective is to generate surpluses to sustain ongoing activities and to maintain the necessary investment in its estate and associated infrastructure, which in the last year included capital investment of £80 million. The Director of Finance will provide financial leadership and expertise to ensure that the University delivers its Strategy 2026, primarily through leadership and management of all financial operations. This will include leading on financial and management accounting, corporate planning, risk management, business support and procurement. There will be a strong emphasis on developing excellence in all of these areas, on team leadership and on the provision of outstanding advice to the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor and the Audit and Planning & Resources Committees. The role reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor and works closely with the Vice Chancellor to whom it has statutory reporting responsibility.
Candidates will have lead or acted as deputy within a substantial finance function in a complex organisation. They will have a strong track record of success and of delivering transformational change and of supporting commercial decision making. They will also be CCAB qualified.
