The Department of Chemistry and Food Chemistry at the Faculty of Science seeks to fill the

Chair (W3) of Technical Biochemistry

from 1 October 2018.

The successful candidate shall represent the subject of Technical Biochemistry in teaching and research. The duties include participation in academic selfadministration. Research should focus on the elucidation of biosynthetic pathways to provide possible applications, e.g. for the synthesis of biologically active compounds, biomaterials, or energy production. The future professor will primarily conduct profound fundamental biochemical research as basis for the use of sustainable biological systems in industrial biotechnology (“white biotechnology”), and thus delineate and substantially complement the Chair of Technical Biochemistry from other biochemically oriented chairs at TU Dresden focusing primarily on molecular-genetic and biomedical research. In teaching, the future post-holder has to represent the subject of Technical Biochemistry in all undergraduate and graduate courses of the department (in German) as well as in subsidiary subjects of other faculties (in German and English). The interest in actively contributing to complementary programmes (e.g. Collaborative Research Centers, Research Units) and the ability to cooperate with non-university research institutes are explicitly encouraged.

Candidates must have a strong record of research accomplishments at international level in the field of Technical Biochemistry. Furthermore, comprehensive teaching experience in the field of Biochemistry, outstanding educational skills and the ability to obtain external research funding are expected. The skills for conducting lectures in the English language are required. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements according to § 58 of the Act Governing Academic Freedom in Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).

TU Dresden seeks to employ more female professors. Hence, we particularly encourage women to apply. Applications from disabled candidates or those with additional support needs are very welcome. The University is a certified family-friendly university and offers a dual career service. If you have any questions on these topics, please contact the Equal Opportunities Officers of the department, Dr. Anke Matura (+49 351 463 35505, anke.matura@tu-dresden.de) or Dr. Oliver Busse (+49 351 463 43220, oliver.busse@tu-dresden.de) or the Representative of the Disabled, Ms Birgit Kliemann (+49 351 463 33175).

Your written application (including your business and private address with phone and fax details as well as email address) should include your CV, a description of your scientific career, research and teaching concept with a list of classes taught, a list of publications, copies of five selected publications and proof of academic qualifications.

Please send all of your documents as hard copy and in digital form (CD or USB stick, not as attachments to emails) to: TU Dresden, Fakultät Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften, Prodekanat Fachrichtung Chemie und Lebensmittelchemie, z. H. Sprecher der Fachrichtung, Herrn Prof. Dr. Thomas Henle, 01062 Dresden until 22.06.2017 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service applies).
