CUHK Faculty of Law Global Professors Program
As part of its globalization efforts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law (CUHK Law) has established a “Global Professors” program. Through the program, the Faculty of Law invites leading law professors from around the world to teach and research at the Faculty under visiting appointments while retaining their affiliation with their home institutions. Global Professors deliver teaching, public lectures and research seminars, undertake research co‐supervision, act as external examiners, and/or other academic activities as appropriate. This is an academic appointment as a Visiting Professor or Visiting Scholar and is of one to four weeks’ duration. The Faculty of Law is currently calling for applications for the Global Professors program.
This is an excellent opportunity for professional enrichment and networking. Established ten years ago, CUHK Law has been rapidly rising in global reputation and impact. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, it was rated the top research law faculty in Hong Kong. It is especially strong in the areas of international economic law, Chinese law, company and financial law, international criminal law, public international law, comparative law and human rights law.
Global Professors would ordinarily be full professors with excellent name recognition and groundbreaking research and/or publications. It is possible that more junior academics could be considered but would have to be extremely exceptional candidates who have already made an impressive impact on research in their fields and have a high degree of name recognition, notwithstanding fewer years of experience. We welcome applications from candidates hailing from around the world but they must be able to teach in English, the language of instruction at CUHK Law.
Appointments will be for the 2017-2018 academic year, depending on schedules and availability, may also be for academic years beyond that. The Faculty will look to make up to four appointments per academic year.
Please note that successful candidates are provided with a generous stipend and travel and accommodation costs will be covered. Applications must be emailed to Ms. Fiona Wan of the Faculty of Law at email@example.com. Applications are due by May 18, 2017. Any questions regarding the program can be directed to the above e-mail.
The information provided will be used for appointment purposes in the University. It may be accessible to officers, committees or persons who will process appointment matters. Information on unsuccessful candidates will be destroyed after the exercise when no longer required.
