The Institute of Romance Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy II of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg invites applications for the position of a tenured

W2-Professorship in Italian and French Linguistics

The successful candidate will cover the full scope of Italian linguistics in research and teaching from a synchronic and diachronic perspective as well as French linguistics particularly from a diachronic perspective. In research, the candidate should have a focus on the empirical description of language and variationist linguistics (e.g. migration linguistics, urban languages). A connection to overall research questions concerning the languages and cultures represented in the faculty is required. The professor is expected to teach in all Romance study programmes (Bachelor, Master and teaching degrees) and in the interdisciplinary programmes “Intercultural European and American Studies” (IKEAS MA and BA level).

The candidate is expected to have experience in the acquisition of third-party funds, to promote the internationalisation process in teaching and research, with special emphasis on the development and strengthening of contacts to Romance countries.

Additional duties are described in Section 34 of the Higher Education Act of the state of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA). Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of Section 35 of HSG LSA. Requirements for employment are a relevant German Habilitation or equivalent academic achievements and proof of pedagogical qualification.
