The Institute of English and American Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy II of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg invites applications for the position of a tenured

W3 Professorship in English Literature and Culture
The successful candidate is expected to represent the fields of English literature and British culture studies in sufficient breadth and depth with a commitment to both research and teaching. He/she will work closely with colleagues from other academic areas within the Institute of English and American Studies while further developing and advancing the discipline through his or her own research projects. The applicant should be a proven expert with a research focus in the fields of literature of the 20th and 21st centuries and British Culture Studies. A research focus in one of the following areas would also be beneficial: Anglophone literature/cultures, intermediality, or literature of the 18th/19th centuries. The holder of the position should also be experienced in attracting funding. Additional duties are described in Section 34 of the Higher Education Act of the state of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA).

The candidate is requested to contribute to the interdisciplinary teaching and research profile of the institute, to cooperate with the other philologies of the Faculty and to further develop the faculty’s main research areas.

A doctoral degree and additional academic achievements (the German Habilitation or equivalent achievements) in the professorship’s core area (English studies) are prerequisites. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of Section 35 of HSG LSA.
