W2-Professorship in Audio-visual Media

The professorship focusses on theory and practice of audio-visual media (film, television, multimedia), primarily with regard to the production and distribution of these media. Special emphasis lies on the aesthetic and economic framework of audio-visual media as well as on critical media analysis.
The successful candidate will teach the use and production of audio-visual media from a theoretical and analytical perspective in all relevant programmes of study. In research, the professorship is expected to focus on the critical discussion of media production considering theoretical as well as practical aspects.
The successful candidate is expected to extend the cooperation with local media companies and to partake in the development of new degree programmes. Therefore, an existing network /networking in the media and the creative arts industry as well as experience in the planning and/or management of media degree programmes are expected. The candidate must also have experience in attracting third-party funding.
A doctoral degree and a Habilitation, or a research record equivalent to the German Habilitation, according to § 35 of the “Hochschulgesetz des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt” (HSG LSA), are prerequisites. Moreover, the candidate must give proof of pedagogical qualification and several years of professional experience in the conception and production of audio-visual media outside the university.
