Manager of Okinawa Marine Science Support Section

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST; see is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking beautiful shoreline and coral reefs. The campus is striking architecturally, and the facilities are outstanding (OIST campus video tour). There are no academic departments, which facilitates multidisciplinary research. Outstanding resources and equipment are provided and managed to encourage easy access and collaboration. Position Summary

The Manager of Okinawa Marine Science Support Section is responsible for overseeing the research support activities for Marine Science and Environmental Science provided both at the main campus, and at OIST Marine station in Seragaki, Onna-village, which is located approximately 8km from the main campus. Responsibilities also include overseeing the operations of OIST Marine Science Station and its user group meetings.
The Manager will report to the Dean of Research, and assist in the development of an international research confederation on Marine Science hosted by the OIST.
There will be additional responsibilities as OIST grows and further develops its marine science programs.
