Birkbeck, University of London is a research-intensive institution ranked in the top one per cent in the world by the Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings. The School of Business, Economics and Informatics brings together the College’s business-facing departments, teaching around 5000 students in its four departments. The Department of Management is the largest department in the College, with around 1,750 full-time equivalent students and nearly 50 staff members. It has a strong research reputation in a number of areas, including international business, innovation management and entrepreneurship, human resource management, corporate governance, sport management, accounting and finance, and marketing.

The Department, which recently hosted the Academy of International Business (UK & Ireland Chapter) Conference to great acclaim, offers MSc programmes in International Business and International Management and. plans to introduce a new BSc programme in International Business. The Department is now looking to add to its team of International Business academics and would particularly encourage applications from prospective colleagues seeking a first class environment for an excellent academic career.

Ideally, applicants should hold a PhD in International Business or related areas, or be very close to completing one, and should be able to demonstrate research achievements and teaching record commensurate with their career stage. Applicants should also be able to outline clear plans for future contributions to research and teaching, as well as demonstrate their readiness to undertake administrative duties as may be directed by the Assistant Dean.

Applications are particularly welcome from specialists in International Business, but candidates from related subject areas who have compelling CVs may also apply.

Salary: Grade 7/8 of the College's London Pay Scale which is Lecturer A (Grade 7) - £36,548 rising to £41,772 per annum or Lecturer B (Grade 8) - £42,913 rising to £50,514 per annum.
This post is full time, 35 hours per week and open-ended. The salary quoted above is on the College's London Pay Scale and includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area. The initial salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of 3 years.
