The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences comprises of three Academic Clusters (11 Disciplines): Allied Health (Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Exercise Science, and Osteopathy), Applied Health (Medical Radiations, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Psychology), and Biomedical Sciences (Cell Biology & Anatomy, Laboratory Medicine, and Pharmaceutical Sciences). Primarily based at the RMIT Bundoora campus, the School undertakes teaching and research across 11 disciplines. Many of the School's programs utilise Work Integrated Learning as an intrinsic part of their teaching both through placements in partner industries and through the University's student led Clinic located at Bundoora's University Hill.

The Associate Dean (Applied Health) provides academic and tactical leadership for staff within the disciplines of Medical Radiations, Nursing, Pharmacy and Psychology. Reporting to the Executive Dean of the School, the incumbent works closely with the Deputy Dean, Learning & Teaching and the Deputy Dean, Research & Innovation to ensure that teaching activities, research training, and research within the cluster are aligned with School and College objectives, priorities, targets, and performance expectations. The Associate Dean will work with the relevant Discipline Leaders to ensure that all staff in the Cluster participate in the annual work planning and review processes including a transparent and consistent annualised workload allocation based on the School's Academic Workload Allocation Model.
The Associate Dean is responsible for leading, managing and developing the academic staff of the disciplines to deliver on the College research and research training strategy and the College learning and teaching strategy, and to contribute to the development of the relevant disciplines and RMIT's standing in relation to them.
The position requires the incumbent to lead, influence, facilitate, and mentor, as well as develop strategies, and implement and manage change. The Associate Dean is a member of the School Executive and is required to work collaboratively with all members of the School leadership and management team and with staff across the School, College and University to ensure that the School achieves its strategic objectives.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have strong academic leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead teams to deliver on strategic objectives in a changing environment. You will also have a nationally (for level D) or internationally (for level E) recognised research standing in scholarship relevant to the Cluster. Demonstration of an in depth understanding of teaching, including innovative approaches to teaching, is essential for your success in this role.
