Project Archivist – ALSPAC Project

Fixed term post until 31/03/2018

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join the Special Collections team within Library Services at the University of Bristol on a fixed term contract until the 31st March 2018.  The Project Archivist will be responsible for undertaking file level cataloguing of the administrative archives of the ground-breaking Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (Children of the Nineties) Project.  They will also be involved with liaising with library staff, and others about the nature of the archive; and having a key role in decision making about this complex archive.

It is expected that the post-holder will have a good honours degree or equivalent and a postgraduate professional qualification in archives administration. They should have sound knowledge of data protection legislation, and awareness of the issues and constraints of handling and making available materials of a sensitive nature; along with copyright issues.

The post-holder is expected to demonstrate high levels of autonomy and take personal responsibility for appropriate decision-making within the remit of the role. They will be working both on the University Campus and on another site in Bristol.

Closing date for applications 24th April 2017.

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
